It all started in 1987 when Rick Huffmann was receiving specialized defensive firearm training while attending an executive protection academy in Colorado. During the extensive on-the-range firearm exercises Rick was briefly introduced to a new concept of engaging in several scenarios while using simulated weapons launching marking projectiles (very early CO2 paintball guns). The real surprise was that most, specially the law enforcement personal attending, all whom had performed skillfully during live-fire exercises had failed even the basics when faced with a live adversary. Rick quickly realized "reality with confirmation" was the key to successful training.
The same year Rick created the first prototype of a portable range facility representing an urban environment. He also created his own modified CO2 weapons and basic PPE (personal protection equipment). Rick for the next several years traveled and trained using his system while working various protection details throughout the country.
